After the departure of McLaren, Renault doesn't have a Formula 1 team anymore which drives with the Alpine engine, but Luca de Meo doesn't see that as a problem at all. The new CEO of Renault even sees it as an advantage.

Theoretically, De Meo said it would be better for Renault to have its engine used by other teams, as this would allow you to exchange data and share some information. “But the current conditions - and this I say it very clearly - especially economical conditions, of transfer of technology between one team and another, the ones that are defined by the federation - are actually not very favourable", he explained to Motorsport.com.

Although De Meo says he doesn't want to get into numbers, he argues that it doesn't have to be a bad thing to participate with one team. “It’s only made so that smaller teams that don’t have the ability to produce an engine, and this is the large majority, can get into the game. But for us economically, it doesn’t change a lot.”

Disappointing weekend in Bahrain

With Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon, Alpine has a strong team this season, but the performance was still disappointing during the opening weekend. The Spanish driver failed to reach the finish line, while Ocon drove outside the points with a thirteenth place. The team is therefore keen to do better in Italy.
