The Alfa Romeo team can't wait to continue the Formula 1 season. Drivers Kimi Räikkönen and Antonio Giovinazzi both drove solid races during the opening weekend in Bahrain, but fell just short of the points. That has to change in Italy.

It's not just upfront that the excitement is great, we can also expect a lot from the midfield teams this season. This does not make Alfa Romeo's task any easier, as the team has come a long way. During the first race, however, the team proved that it is entering this season on a positive note.

Räikkönen expects to be able to compete for the points in Imola as well, he told formulapassion.it. "But we have no illusions that it will be easy. We saw in Bahrain that even a good weekend doesn't mean a top ten finish, so we know we have to keep pushing to improve everything we do from Thursday to Sunday."

Small margins

The Finn expects the difference between being just behind the top teams and finishing outside the top ten to be very small. "Hopefully we can have a good weekend and finish in the points. That's what I was talking about earlier: we know what we have in hand and what we don't, so we just have to make sure we perform as well as we can."
