Lando Norris had a good result in the first race of the season by finishing fourth. Despite that he thinks the new car of McLaren suits the driving style of teammate Daniel Ricciardo better.

With the switch to Mercedes engines, the McLarens had to make more adjustments than other teams. According to Norris, he will have to adapt his driving style somewhat to the new character of the car. "I felt like I had to drive like the last few years again, and especially in qualifying that had a negative effect," Norris told Autosport.com.

Old driving style doesn't suit the new McLaren too well

He continued: "It went well, but sometimes it feels like I'm punishing myself in the things I do with the car. When I understood this a bit better I was able to put that to use during the race, and improve where I was losing time."

In doing so, he was able to make good use of Ricciardo's data. "Despite the car being new to him, his driving style suits it better in some ways. But the way we had to drive the car in the last two years is changing in a positive way. This is where I have to adapt myself a bit more, because the car is different this year, " Norris said.
