'Carlos works well together with Leclerc, we can finally count on both drivers'

For Ferrari, the Bahrain GP was a solid start to the F1 season. During the race Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz were somewhat invisible, but did not stand out due to an extremely poor performance, as was often the case last season. In this respect Binotto believes that Sainz is a good second driver.

Vettel gets an indirect beating

"Two drivers in the points is a good start," Binotto is quoted by Marca. "Carlos is already working well together with Leclerc and we can finally count on both drivers. Knowing this is important for us because it affects the team spirit. At the moment our rivals are the other teams. When we get back to the top, our drivers will be rivals of each other."

There, Binotto painfully pokes fun at Sebastian Vettel on a number of occasions. Not only was the German simply a lot slower than Leclerc last year, it's also known that the rivalry between him and Leclerc did get out of hand in the past. With Sainz, Binotto is not afraid of that and he is doing a good job for now.

"Carlos was close to Ricciardo, despite the fact that he was compromised by his starting position. But he drove a very solid race, as he usually does. We chose Carlos because we knew he was very strong in the race and he showed that. He is getting more and more confident with the car and is adapting very well to the team," said Binotto.
