Schumacher on Mazepin: Was told "I have to be careful when I'm racing with you"

Nikita Mazepin is possibly one of the most aggressive drivers Formula 1 has seen in recent times. His new teammate Mick Schumacher was warned early on about the Russian's driving behaviour.

Already warned in karts

Haas F1 will introduce a completely new lineup of two rookies in 2021. Schumacher and Mazepin have known each other for a number of years, however, as the two drove in karts at the same time and have been teammates in the past. Mazepin's aggressive driving style was already noticed back then.

"We've known each other since 2013 when we were teammates at TonyKart," Schumacher said as quoted by Autosport.com. Schumacher can clearly remember that the two had met before when they were racing at La Conca.

Aggressive, but respectful

"That was the first time I noticed you," continued Schumacher, who conducted the interview with Mazepin.

"One of my team-mates said I have to be careful when I'm racing with you because [laughs] like, combat wise, he was quite aggressive!" But the two rookies agree that respect is mutual for each other.
