Red Bull Racing team boss Christian Horner is looking forward to the new season and hopes to break the hegemony of Mercedes after years. The test went well and the drivers seem to be ready for it.

Don't solve problems, but develop further

Horner hopes to break Mercedes' seven-year dominance in 2021. Despite Red Bull's winter test being excellent, the British team boss doesn't want to cheer too early: "But we had a debrief within the Team after the test and it is fair to say we are a little more cautious on the subject and we cannot underestimate the size of the challenge ahead of us on many fronts", Horner begins his column on RedBull.com.

"So, you cannot take anything for granted", Horner continues. The British team boss reveals that the RB16B has a solid foundation. "At this stage it is good that we have a solid basis from which to develop the car, rather than fixing an inherent problem."

Verstappen in top condition

It won't be down to the drivers in 2021. The experienced Sergio Perez is Max Verstappen's new teammate and Horner is happy with the two drivers. "Max is in good shape and looking really sharp. He hit all his fitness targets at the pre-season training camp in Red Bull's facility in Austria and is readier than ever for the start of the season," he concluded.

Perez came over from Racing Point last winter. The Sakhir Grand Prix winner adapted quickly in Milton Keynes. "while he is experienced, he is also a laid-back character. He knows what he wants and has 10 seasons of F1 under his belt", Horner concludes.
