Red Bull Racing have emerged from the winter test as the favourites and it looks like Max Verstappen will finally get his chance to compete for the world title. Gerhard Berger is sure that the Dutchman will make it happen.

Red Bull Racing the favourite?

During the winter test in Bahrain Red Bull Racing proved to be the fastest team. The RB16B was fast, reliable and above all stable. Where the Mercedes W12 often spun like the RB16 did last year, this season the roles were reversed. Red Bull is therefore favourite for the first race, but never write off Mercedes.

''The tests have shown that Red Bull is very strong. Honda has made a step forward and that is what Red Bull needed most. With the small changes in the regulations you can see that Adrian Newey knows best how to get the balance right. Mercedes still needs to understand a few things about the car. Conclusion: The reverse of last year: Red Bull might have the advantage'', says Berger to Kronen Zeitung.

No money on Verstappen

With Red Bull Racing being the favourite, Max Verstappen is automatically looked at. The Dutchman has been pointed out as the crown prince of Formula 1 for years, but at Red Bull he never got a car that could make him world champion. If that is the case this year, Berger is sure Verstappen can turn this into a world title.

''I see Max as a driver who can become world champion. It's a joy to watch him. His speed and aggressiveness are absolutely brilliant. He hasn't had a chance to win the title yet, so we have to see how he deals with that. So I'm not so sure I'm going to put ten euros on it already, because Lewis has already won seven world titles'', the former Formula 1 driver concludes.
