Gasly tries to enlist the help of Leclerc: 'Ferrari are hiding'

One of the apparent losers of the winter test in Bahrain seemed to be the Ferrari team. The car looked unstable and there were some reliability issues. Carlos Sainz did set the third fastest time of the weekend. According to Pierre Gasly we shouldn't underestimate Ferrari.

"I think Ferrari are kind of hiding and not showing too much. Compared to last year I think they are clearly better. I discussed it with [Charles] Leclerc after the test and we exchanged a couple of messages, talking but not too much, just trying to have an idea!", Gasly says laughing to Stats Perform News.

Gasly doesn't yet dare to say whether Ferrari are ahead of or behind AlphaTauri, but he does believe it will be close. If we're to believe him about Ferrari's hidden speed, it means his own team has also found some speed compared to last season.

McLaren the favourite for third place

Both teams will want to battle it out in the midfield and for the third spot in the Constructors' Championship. Gasly points to one team as the favourite in this respect. "I think McLaren seem to be a very strong opponent and competitor at the moment, especially with a Mercedes engine. They seem to have managed to put a strong package together."
