Four teams with Mercedes engines record less mileage than Ferrari's three

Mercedes had a rough start to the new Formula 1 season. Valtteri Bottas did not manage more than 6 laps in the morning because of a gearbox problem. Lewis Hamilton did 42 in the afternoon, without setting any fast times.

Mercedes' difficult start also means that they have driven the least amount of kilometres. What is remarkable about the number of kilometres is that none of the Mercedes teams scored high. Aston Martin, McLaren and Williams didn't manage to do more than 100 laps. In total, the teams with Mercedes engines drove 319 laps.

Where Mercedes has four teams with their engines in the back of the car, Ferrari has three. Despite the fact that there is one team less with Ferrari engines, the Italian power unit did cover more kilometres in total: 332 laps.

Honda and Renault score well with fewer cars

Honda supplies engines to Red Bull Racing and AlphaTauri, which together accounted for 250 laps. Renault has one team left in Formula 1 that uses their engines, that is Alpine where Esteban Ocon drove all day. He drove 129 laps on day one.
