Fernando Alonso has two titanium plates on his upper jaw, but he says that won't hinder him during the Grands Prix this season. The Alpine driver has been out of Formula 1 for a while but claims to be completely ready for his return.

"I honestly don't expect any problems", says Alonso about the start of the season. The experienced Spaniard was hit by a bike and had to miss a few weeks of preparation as a result. However, it hasn't had a huge impact.

Titanium plates for Alonso

Alonso has already completed two weeks of training and he has now also entered the simulator. Physically he is back to his old self. "One thing is the professional side and driving side, which is 100%. On the personal side, obviously, I will have to remove two titanium plates that I have on the upper jaw, that will be removed at the end of the season," he explains.

So when the season ends in December Alonso will have to go under the knife again. "So, there is still something going on after the championship finishes but, as I said, they will not affect my professional life," Alonso will step into Alpine's 2021 car for the first time on Saturday.
