Impressive floor of Mercedes' W12 is only now becoming apparent

Mercedes kept the floor of the new W12 well hidden during the presentation of the new car, but at the start of the winter test, the team did not escape the photographers. Check out Mercedes' new floor here.

Mercedes showed quite a bit during the presentation of their new car for 2021. While most teams only showed studio shots where Photoshop was used to make parts of the car disappear, the car of Mercedes was fully visible. Only the floor was shielded from view.

The W12 finally fully visible

Mercedes didn't make a fuss about it during the press conference. ''The part we don't show is the floor of the car. We're all looking at what our competitors are doing, and we don't want to make them any the wiser. We don't have to show it yet, so we won't,'' James Allison revealed at the launch.

Now Mercedes can't ignore it anymore, and the first images of their new floor have appeared. The floor had to be simplified for this season to reduce downforce, but on the Mercedes floor you can see that there is still a lot of detail.
