Romain Grosjean will make the switch from Formula 1 to IndyCar this season. With the announcement that he will race for Dale Coyne Racing it was immediately announced that in principle he will only race on street and road circuits. However, there is still a chance that he will be racing on oval tracks.

Even after it was announced yesterday that Pietro Fittipaldi will take over his car for the races at the speedways of Indianapolis, Texas and Gateway. A chance that Grosjean, by the way, really wants him to have. However, he is not yet sure if he will be able to drive all the ovals.

Motorsport.com reports that Dale Coyne is willing to use a third car for him at the Gateway oval. Grosjean is unsure about that option. "We haven't talked about it, but there is a good chance I would like to do it," says the Frenchman.

Grosjean is not sitting still after F1 career

After his serious accident in Bahrain last year, it is not surprising that Grosjean is keen to avoid the high speeds of the ovals. Gateway might be an exception as this oval is a lot smaller and the speeds are not much higher than on a normal circuit.

Because he is also linked with a seat in the WEC, Grosjean will have a busy time next season. With thirteen races in the IndyCar he will be away from home a lot. If he likes it in America he might consider bringing his family next year.
