Hamilton can't wait for the season start: "The excitement has been building"

Mercedes has unveiled the new W12 for the 2021 Formula One season, and Lewis Hamilton is only too happy. After long negotiations, he too will be back in a Mercedes in 2021, on his way to his eighth world title.

We had to wait a long time for it, but Hamilton is officially a driver of Mercedes again. Throughout January, the Brit was officially without a contract, but in February the contract extension was finally announced. Hamilton will start the season fresh and hopes to win his eighth world title. If he succeeds, he will become the first driver to win 8 F1 world titles thus surprising Michael Schumacher. 

Hamilton looks ahead

“The launch day of a new car is always a really exciting one,” said Hamilton in the Mercedes press release. 

“It’s great to reveal to the world the result of everyone’s hard work at the factories and to see some of my team-mates in person, which has been so rare during the past year. I’ve been in touch with the engineers through the winter, keeping track of their preparations as I prepare myself for the season ahead. The
excitement has been building and building, so now I just can’t wait to get out on track in the W12.”
