The 2020 Formula One season did not start as hoped for by Red Bull Racing. The car did not perform as expected in the simulation runs that were carried out, resulting in significant start-up problems.

This caused major problems for drivers Max Verstappen and Alexander Albon, who suffered from recurring problems with the car's balance.

Lessons learned from 2020

"When the season finally started, compared to what the wind tunnel and other simulation tools were telling us, something was wrong," team boss Christian Horner told Motorsport-Total.com.

Horner continued: "We learned a lot last year, and now of course the challenge is to apply it in 2021."

However, the Red Bull team boss does not yet dare to say whether the problem of correlation with the simulation tools has been solved. "I don't know, we will see when the car is running. We gained a lot of knowledge about it last year.

"I think some of the problems were due to the complexity of our wind tunnel, which has its limits in some respects. We will not know what progress we have made until we race in Bahrain," Horner said.
