Mick Schumacher will make his Formula 1 debut for Haas in 2021. The German was linked to Alfa Romeo for a long time but got the chance at the other team with a Ferrari engine. Schumacher himself, however, had little to say about that.

After a Formula 3 and a Formula 2 title, Schumacher has been given a real chance to make his F1 debut in 2021. As the son of Michael Schumacher, there is, of course, a lot of pressure on the shoulders of the young German, who can first grow into his shadow at Haas.

Debut at Haas

''It is not the biggest team, but it is a team where the lines are very short with the drivers. We have a lot of contact with each other and that's good because then you know what the goals are. The team works very well with their drivers and a breath of fresh air in the team might also help them to be motivated again,'' Schumacher told Auto, Motor und Sport.

''We have to be honest about the potential of the car and just work hard. The best thing for us would be if we can just collect points, and maybe in crazy races like last year we can maybe be on the podium one day. That is a dream, of course, but we can also dream.''

Ferrari makes the choice

Schumacher will now make his debut for Haas, but for a long time it looked like Schumacher would make his debut at Alfa Romeo. However, Kimi Raikkonen and Ferrari youngster, Antonio Giovinazzi, remained there, and so Schumacher was allocated a different place. He himself did not have much to say about that.

''We made the decision together of course, but ultimately I have very little experience in Formula 1, and at Ferrari there is a lot of knowledge. They know the business and know exactly what is good for me'', concluded Schumacher, who will be joined by the controversial Nikita Mazepin at Haas in 2021.
