William Storey's most remarkable tirades and fantasies

After a year and a half of absence, Rich Energy's Williams Storey apparently can no longer bear not being in the spotlight. He says he will announce the return of the brand in Formula 1 on Valentine's Day. How serious that is, remains to be seen, but it will likely yield some tasty tweets again.

Storey on Twitter

Because whatever else you may think of the man, he provided the necessary entertainment in 2019 as the main sponsor at Haas. As the "manufacturer" of an energy drink, he saw himself as a direct competitor to Red Bull and he regularly showed that. Especially when the sponsorship deal with Haas threatened to break down due to arrears and internal conflicts with shareholders. Storey decided to anticipate the misery with the following statement.

"Today we terminated our contract with Haas for poor performance. We aim to beat Red Bull & being behind Williams in Austria is unacceptable. The politics and PC attitude in F1 is also inhibiting our business. We wish the team well announced Rich Energy's departure," the Tweet said.

The mud throwing that then mainly originated from the corner of Storey was at times laughable. For example, he called Christian Horner "Mr. Ginger Spice," the shareholders who sidelined him were "traitors," and called Haas's car a "milk truck." Something that he later also posted a photo of.

Storey the fantasist?

Over the past few years, Storey (his name actually says it all) has been telling a lot of stories and making claims that have been debunked or cannot be proven. Regardless of whether you can buy his drink anywhere at all, he claimed to have been posted to the British Air Force (RAF), was a professional football player at Queens Park Rangers, was a professional gambler and once went through life as a tobacco farmer in Zimbabwe.

Last year he was in the news as one of the possible new buyers of the English football club Sunderland. He (of course) brought that news out himself. The club's CEO declined to comment on any contacts with Storey. Whether it was true or not, we haven't heard from it since.

Given that history, the upcoming announcement of Storey and Rich Energy might also go down in the books like a sham. Should there be a serious partner involved in this announcement, it's interesting to see.
