Red Bull goes straight to work: 'Factory eight will be the new engine department'

Red Bull Racing has had its way with the unanimous decision to freeze engine development. Red Bull can now finally get to work, turning an entire factory in Milton Keynes into an engine factory.

It was tense for Red Bull, but fortunately, all teams voted in favour and so Red Bull can start developing its own engine. The regulations are not yet completely through, because there are still some details to be filled in. However, that doesn't stop Red Bull from going to work in England.

New factory in Milton Keynes

"As of today, we are on course to set up a new facility in Milton Keynes. Building eight, one of our existing factories, will be turned into a motor factory. Now everything is in place and we have started. The engine factory will be designed so that developments, if within the range of what has been agreed, for the new regulations can be carried out here," Helmut Marko proudly told Motorsport-magazine.com.

A factory at Honda itself in Japan was not favourable according to Marko. ''Honda's factory is more focused on the electric engines and so there are not enough places to have the engines tested on,'' said Marko, who is not just happy for Red Bull. ''I think this is not only good news for us but the whole of Formula 1. This ensures that the costs are much lower'', concludes Marko.
