In 2025 or 2026, the current engine concept will be abandoned. New engine regulations will then be introduced in Formula 1, but it is still unclear which year it will be exactly. What kind of engine power sources it will be is also unclear. Zak Brown can't say much about it either.

"I think everyone is still debating (that)," Brown is quoted as saying by the Chinese news agency Xinhua. No decisions have been made yet, but several options are already on the table. "Is it electric? Is it some form of hybrid? Is it even hydrogen? What I'm comfortable in is that F1 will continue to develop in whichever way the world goes."

Formula 1 continues to innovate

One thing is certain; Formula 1 does not rule out anything. McLaren's top man is happy about that. "I feel good about the fact that Formula 1 will continue to evolve, whichever way the world goes," he continues.

That bit of innovation is also hugely important for the future of the pinnacle of motorsport, according to Brown. "I'm not worried about whether F1 will be out of date in ten years. F1 always moves with the times."
