The 2021 Formula One calendar has been shuffled around considerably before most people have even looked at it. The Grands Prix of Australia and China have been postponed so they will start in Bahrain. Can we expect more changes?

"That fear is, of course, well-founded," Toto Wolff told ORF when asked if people are rightly worried that the season will be shortened like last year. However, he sees the situation as slightly brighter than it was in 2020. The fact is that they are now prepared to race only in Europe and the Middle East and the postponement of Australia and China could be exceptions.

Australia and China have no influence on F1

"Australia has been postponed, but the Grand Prix is so important that they didn't want to cancel it completely. It will follow at the end of the year. And China has a general ban on major events until August. Those are two factors that cannot be influenced. That is why we are starting in Bahrain."

Meanwhile, lockdowns are being extended in several countries, and sometimes even stricter coronavirus measures are being introduced. The end of the crisis is thus being pushed further and further forward, but Wolff is an optimist: "I assume that after the summer we will have a reasonably normal season again."
