Despite a few good results, Lance Stroll sees the 2020 Formula One season primarily as a missed opportunity, given the strong car the Racing Point drivers had at their disposal.

Stroll grabbed his first pole position at the Turkish Grand Prix, and made it to the podium twice. Still, he thinks there could have been more in it, partly because he had some bad luck and became infected with the coronavirus.

Stroll not satisfied despite good season

"We had some nice results: A couple of fourth places, a couple of podiums, a pole position - that was one of the highlights of the season. It was a good year," Stroll said in conversation with Autosport.com.

Despite the good results, he thinks there could have been more in it. "Still, I think last year was a missed opportunity, considering the car we had. The car was very competitive. But there were more factors at play."

Some bad luck for Stroll

"In the first half of the season I was fourth in the championship, with a big gap. But after my puncture in Mugello, it became more volatile in terms of points. That frustrated me a bit, because in some races we had good chances. In Mugello we could have made the podium, but then we got that flat tire."

He continued: "And then I got COVID and missed a race. So there are some more races where we had bad luck and didn't make the finish. So I do see some missed opportunities last season. But all in all, it was also a fun year," Stroll ends.
