After Imola returned to the F1 calendar in 2020 due to major calendar changes following the coronavirus pandemic, the circuit returns this year. The organizers are hopeful of making it a more permanant fixture.

Two races in Italy

Automobile Club d'Italia president Angelo Sticchi Damiani, is very happy with the current calendar result for the time being. "It is nice that there are two races in Italy this year, including Imola which can be a home for Formula One. The ACI and myself are committed and have done everything to make this situation happen, and as an Italian I can only be proud of this result. The result of a great effort," he said as quoted by Motorsport.com.

In doing so, Damiani also expresses his aspiration: "I hope it can be repeated in the future, having a stable second Grand Prix in Italy." In other words: Imola should return to the calendar on a regular basis and Damiani hopes that his efforts last year and this year will be enough to win over Formula One once and for all.

One of the main supporters that Imola and Damiani have is Stefano Bonaccini, the president of Emilia-Romagna region. "The Emilia-Romagna race is an extraordinary opportunity to improve our region and attract people, also from a tourist point of view, and to innovate. It places our region in the position of being a gateway to all the best the country has to offer."
