The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix will be repeated in 2021. After the one-off return of Imola in 2020, the historic circuit has now got a place on the calendar in 2021. The organization even hopes to allow fans to the event.

In 2020, Imola returned to the Formula One calendar when F1 and the FIA were looking for circuits in Europe to reduce costs and travel. In 2021, Formula One wanted to return to a more normal season, but it won't be completely as planned, with the Australian and Chinese Grands Prix postponed.

Imola with fans

Imola is now the second race on the calendar and there are even hoping for spectators. "Imola is getting ready for the first Formula One race in Europe in 2021. We hope the circuit can be open to the public, even if only a limited number to ensure the safety of everyone," said the president of Emilia Romagna, Stefano Bonaccini, according to Motorsportweek.com.

"We continue to propose sporting events, because few regions are able to pull this off. There is a desire here to continue and to demonstrate that we must resist the virus. With the launch of the vaccinations, we are going into the next few months with confidence and we can rebuild everything," concluded Bonaccini.
