Jacques Villeneuve makes himself heard again. The Canadian directs his ruthless criticism at Ferrari this time. Villeneuve sees no added value in the training program of the race stable. Only Charles Leclerc is the exception and the only driver who has benefited from the programme.

Villeneuve sees Leclerc as the only exception

The 1996 world champion is known for his ruthless criticism in the F1 world. Villeneuve took a close look at Ferrari's training programme and concluded that it had little added value for the young drivers. Only Charles Leclerc has benefited.

On Sky Italia, the Canadian discusses what he thinks: "With the exception of Leclerc, all Ferrari talents already have enough money to make their way. Only Charles Leclerc struggled with the funding to reach F1."

Ferrari program is of little use

According to Villeneuve, the program of the Italian Scuderia gets very little out of it: "Sooner or later all these talents will have to take the next step, but they would have gotten where they are today without Ferrari."

Villeneuve prefers to see that the programme actually helps the somewhat poorer drivers with talent. In recent years this hasn't happened in his view, so the program has been useless. Opposite the useless Ferrari program is the critically acclaimed Red Bull Racing junior program as an example of how it should be.
