British-Korean driver Jack Aitken hopes to put Formula 1 on the map in South Korea. The driver was a big hit with the fans there when he made his debut in the King's class.

Aitken debuted in Formula 1 when he substituted for George Russell at Williams, who replaced Lewis Hamilton after testing positive for the coronavirus.

More reactions than expected from Korea

"There were a lot of reactions, more than I expected. That was great, because Formula 1 is not that popular in Korea," says Aitken to the South China Morning Post.

He continues: "The interest in motor racing is still new here. We do have a lot of Korean fans, and a lot of people following the races because of my participation. A lot of people are asking how to get into motor racing."

"It is well known that motor racing is not cheap, and you have to be 'saleable'. If manufacturers can use me to make themselves more marketable, I think that's a big advantage," says Aitken.
