The start of the new Formula 1 season has been in jeopardy for some time now. The coronavirus situation in Australia has worsened and so the measures to enter the country are very strict. According to Lawrence Stroll, the season will not be kicked off in Melbourne.

Bahrain will be the season opener

"Melbourne has been - it's not officially announced but it will be - not cancelled but postponed", says Lawrence Stroll quoted by The West Australian. "We will go there sometime in the fall and the first race will be Bahrain."

Aston Martin's top executive expects the coming months to be tough for Formula 1. "I do believe we're in for a difficult two or three months. There is a light at the end of the tunnel with the vaccine. I think the first few races will be slightly challenging", continued Stroll.

Starting 2021 with confidence

The Canadian billionaire is drawing confidence from the successful 2020 season. "But Formula One management and the FIA, I really take my hat off to them to deliver 17 races as we did last year in 23 weeks, without really any major hiccups, in a very impressive manner."
