Racing Point officially disappeared from the books

The name Racing Point will no longer be seen on the Formula 1 grid next year as the team will continue as Aston Martin. Officially Racing Point still existed as a company, but now Racing Point has officially disappeared from the books.

AMR GP Limited

As of today, Wednesday 6 January, the transformation from Racing Point to Aston Martin is complete. Racing Point UK Limited will from now on go through life as AMR GP Limited, according to a document from the Companies House, the UK business register. AMR stands for Aston Martin Racing.

Return Aston Martin

It is not the first time that Aston Martin has participated in Formula 1 as a manufacturer, although it cannot really be called a fruitful history. In 1959 and 1960, Aston Martin competed in a total of five Grand Prix. British driver Roy Salvadori finished sixth in 1959 in Great Britain and Portugal, but because only the top five points were scored at the time, Aston Martin never scored points before.

In 2016, Aston Martin returned to Formula 1 for the first time as a sponsor of Red Bull Racing. From 2018 to 2020, it was even the team's title sponsor. So in 2021, Aston Martin returns as a constructor with Mercedes as its engine and Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll as its drivers.
