It's often a bit more luck than wisdom with Lance Stroll and the Canadian himself seems to see that. Despite an F1 2020 season with two podiums and a pole position, the Racing Point driver has been reflecting on a season of missed opportunities.

Deteriorating year for Stroll

In 2020, Stroll reached a true career highlight. The crazy Turkish Grand Prix started with the amazing and unexpected pole position of the Canadian. Despite this highlight, the youngster is focused on what he's let slip through his fingers this season.

Motorsport.com quoted Stroll as saying: "We certainly had a very strong car. During the winter the team did an incredible amount of work to develop this car. For my part, I just don't think it was the most perfect year."

Highlights for Stroll in Turkey, Bahrain and Italy

At Monza and Bahrain, Stroll finished on the podium. Given his previous years, that should be enough to be proud of. Especially in combination with the pole position mentioned earlier.

Stroll seems to look back with the most resentment on the race weekend in Turkey. "I think Turkey was the biggest missed opportunity, we drove 30 laps in the lead and finished the race ninth, with damage."

It was a missed opportunity season for Stroll in a nutshell. The Canadian also had to miss the race in Germany after feeling unwell, eventually returning a positive coronavirus test. "It's frustrating, but it's part of the sport. It's all about highs and lows," concluded Stroll.
