Mick Schumacher makes his official F1 debut in 2021 at Haas. The German follows in the footsteps of his father, Michael Schumacher, who said goodbye to Formula 1 in 2012. As a rookie, Schumacher has to take on a colleague from Formula 2. Nikita Mazepin will be the teammate of the German.

The team already has a clear goal, Schumacher explains. "If I say that Q2 is our goal, which will be really hard to achieve, then it will feel like a victory if we achieve it," the F2 champion explains in conversation with Motorsport-Total.com. However, he also recognises that he should not expect too much from his first year in F1.

Difficult period with Haas?

"If you achieve your goals, then of course you are happy. If you don't manage to live up to your own expectations, then you have to work harder. Next year will be all about managing expectations." In Abu Dhabi, Schumacher was allowed to spend time in an F1 car for the first time and he already knows what the focus will be on in the winter.

"I feel that I am well prepared, but the focus has to go to the neck. That is the only point that really needs more attention for next season." The physical difference between F1 and F2 is big and Schumacher wants to get used to that difference as soon as possible. "The biggest goal is to develop myself as a driver."
