Ocon grows within Renault: 'That's much better than at the beginning of the year'

Esteban Ocon is back in Formula 1, but he would've hoped for more in his first year back. The Frenchman dominated by his teammate for a year but is happy with the progress made.

At the end of 2018, Ocon had to settle for a seat inside the Mercedes garage, rather than in the cockpit. Racing Point no longer needed it and Renault opted for the Australian when Daniel Ricciardo was released. In 2020 Ocon could still go to Renault, but in that year Ricciardo turned out much stronger.

''Over the whole season my development has been very strong and I am happy how we were able to finish the season. It was a lot stronger than at the beginning of the season and I certainly notice that I have more confidence and speed than at the beginning of the year. We will make sure that this is even better next year'', says the Frenchman according to Crash.net.

For Renault, however, the season did not go according to plan, with an only fifth place among the manufacturers. ''It's a pity we missed that third place, but there are a lot of positive points we can take into account for next year. If we can do better in 2021, we will be in a very strong position'', concludes the Renault driver.
