Achieving points during a season is very important for every team, as the prize money based on the points is paid out at the end of a season. At the same time, it is also a way of recouping costs incurred earlier, as the teams pay entry fees and this is done again on the basis of the points they have gained a year earlier.

Participation is pricey

The 2021 season is still some way off, but the amounts the teams have to pay to be able to participate are already known. Mercedes are paying the most by far, having achieved a total of 573 points in 2020. This is followed by Red Bull Racing and at the bottom, we see Williams , who still has to pay entry fees despite a score of 0.

The amount per point is $ 5,563, but the top teams pay an extra amount on top of that, with Mercedes having to pay the most because they have become champions. Below is the amount that each team has to deduct for participation.
