More than a week after his horror crash in the first weekend in Bahrain, the approaching exodus of Romain Grosjean from Formula 1 has come to be seen in a totally different light. The both beloved and hated punching bag of many a Formula 1 expert will now be known less for his mistakes, but more for his miraculous escape from death.

A good example of this changed image of Grosjean can be found in his updated Instagram bio: "Haters and fire resistant," it now reads, as a sign of his greatly altered F1 legacy.

Positive for career

Formula 1 expert Will Buxton even goes so far as to say that Grosjean's crash has had a positive effect on his career. He argues this on Formula.1com: "In a weird way, Romain’s accident could be one of the most positive things to happen to his Formula 1 career. ... He left the Bahrain paddock immersed in love and respect.”

Buxton continues: “Up to last weekend, Romain Grosjean looked set to leave this paddock as the frustrating and frustrated enigma who, despite a similar pre F1 pedigree to Lewis Hamilton, outscoring Sebastian Vettel in the second half of that astonishing 2013 season, launching himself to the podium time and again and turning the competitive tide of the new teams with his incredible opening run at Haas, had seen the flaws and mistakes he all too frequently made become the tag which was hung from his increasingly bowed head.”
