Lewis Hamilton will not be there this weekend during the Sakhir GP. Now that Max Verstappen's biggest competitor is disappearing, it seems a lot easier for the Dutchman to take victory. Verstappen is a bit cautious with that prediction though.

Absence Hamilton changes little for Verstappen

No less than five times this season Verstappen had to acknowledge his superior in Lewis Hamilton when he came second. The Dutchman came second five times behind the seven-time world champion. Nevertheless, the Limburger doesn't think it will be easier to take victory this weekend without the presence of Hamilton.

"There is no Lewis, but there is Valtteri and George driving the fastest car", says Verstappen to Motorsport.com. "It will be very tough and not easy. Especially considering the layout of the track we are driving on.

Repetition of Monza

This weekend there will be driven on the super fast modified circuit of Bahrain. Laps can be driven in 55 seconds and there are only four braking points. Verstappen therefore fears a repeat of the Monza race.

"The layout only helps those cars that already have a lot of power, so I expect things to be a bit difficult for us. I really hope it doesn't turn out like Monza. We have to wait and see. The track is a bit different from Monza, of course.

Verstappen didn't finish in that race in Italy. It was a crazy race and Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas didn't get on the podium either.
