Guenther Steiner, the team boss of Haas, responded to Daniel Ricciardo's criticism of Formula 1 broadcasting the severe crash of Romain Grosjean in the opening stages of the Bahrain Grand Prix.

Steiner has no complaints

Steiner admitted he agrees with the way Formula 1 dealt with the images of the crash. "My opinion is if it ended lucky, and nothing bad happened, why not show it to make sure people understand?," Steiner said on Autosport.com.

Broadcasting the footage, once it was known that Grosjean did not have any serious injuries, was the right message according to Steiner. "We wanted to get the news out as soon as possible to the people, Romain is OK, just because it's difficult to contact family, friends, people who know us, people of the team. If we sent one message via TV and something like this, it's much more powerful.”

Dramatic images

Steiner, however, does understand that the images were tough, even for the other drivers, but thinks that this was the way to deal with them. "Yeah, it looks a little bit dramatic, but it ended good. I'm not an expert in TV ethics, but in my opinion, a good thing was shown. It was a bad accident, but we got lucky and everything ended OK.”
