The Formula 1 season of 2020 is almost over. There are still three races to go, but they will all be held within three weeks of each other. After that, the drivers will have a break, much later than usual, until their work for the team starts again.

In an interview for sponsor G-Star RAW, Max Verstappen and Edwin Evers look ahead to the winter break.

Time away is important to Verstappen

It has been a very intense season, with many races taking place within a week of each other. Most drivers are ready for a vacation, as is Verstappen. "Formula 1 is of course a very big part of my life, but I also think it's important to be away from it for a while."

For Verstappen, it is the most normal thing in the world to provide fans with signatures and photos. However, he doesn't attach much importance to this himself. "A few weeks ago we were sitting here on a boat and Cristiano Ronaldo was lying next to us. Fine, I'll just let him do his thing, won't I? I don't have to go there to ask him for a selfie that I can post."

He didn't get his driver's license until after his Formula 1 debut but Verstappen has been talking about his first driving lesson and how he found driving. "I hadn't driven a regular car much, because I didn't like that. We used to go to an industrial estate and my dad would say: 'Drive it'. I never really felt like it. Then he really had to push me to get into that car. I didn't like shifting gears. It's a nice machine," said the Dutchman.
