Ricciardo gives the ultimate tip for a good shoey: "Tastes like roses"

We now know which move Daniel Ricciardo shows when he drives to the podium: the shoey; drinking out of his race shoe. This season he even managed to convince Lewis Hamilton to join him for a drink. In an interview with GQ, Ricciardo gives an insight into the technique. 

What does a shoey taste like? "Like roses", Ricciardo answers, laughing into the camera. Then he gives the ultimate tip for removing the shoey part of the taste, in order to be able to enjoy the drink to the fullest. “The trick, though, is whatever beverage you’re gonna put in it, has to be alcoholic, it has to be cold.”

The temperature of the drink is especially important, the Australian explains cheerfully. “The cold, the chill, kills all the other stuff going on in the shoe. So make sure it’s cold, and you’ll win.”

Two shoeys in 2020

In the 2020 season, Ricciardo has finished on the podium twice for Renault. The question now is whether Ricciardo will be able to perform his ritual again this season, with the three races that remain.
