Thanks to his victory in Turkey, Lewis Hamilton can now call himself a seven-time F1 world champion. Paddy Lowe saw the young Brit arrive at McLaren and explains what makes him so special.

''With individual titles, people sometimes say it's easy, but not all titles were easy for Lewis. You have to be very consistant and determined to win seven. But he already showed that determination when he was on the podium in his first nine Formula 1 races," said Lowe to Motorsport-total.com.

Hamilton is special

Lowe worked for McLaren between 2007 and 2012 and together with Lewis made the switch to Mercedes in 2013. ''Nowadays we already think it's very clever when a rookie takes the podium, but he did it nine times in his first nine races. Hamilton is the biggest I've ever worked with. The results speak for themselves.''

According to Lowe, Hamilton has one characteristic that makes him special compared to the rest. ''Nobody has had the perseverance to win multiple titles and that's what makes Lewis so special. He sacrifices so much to achieve that and is fully committed to F1. That's also so frightening for the competition. He's really on his own island, but he also keeps going," the engineer concludes.
