The W Series will run no less than eight races in 2021 on the same weekend as Formula 1. This gives the class for women an important step towards becoming more visible to the general public.

The W Series was founded in 2019 to give women a good chance to get into in a Formula car. By 2020, super-license points would also be handed out for the first time, making a Formula 1 or Formula 2 seat more visible. These tyres will also be further enhanced.

W Series next to Formula 1

Just like Formula 2 and Formula 3, the W Series will race on the same weekend as F1. It is not yet known which races these will be, but it has been agreed to race eight weekends.

''There is no doubt that our worldwide fame will increase if we race alongside Formula 1," says Catherine Bond Muir in the statement.

The CEO of the W Series will be supported by the technical director of Formula 1, Ross Brawn. ''They have been an important issue for many since they started in 2019 and we believe it is important to give everyone a chance to reach the highest level of Formula 1," concludes Brawn.
