Today the official Formula 1 calendar for 2021 was announced, with as main updates the new Grand Prix of Saudi Arabia, the Grand Prix of the Netherlands, and the cancellation of the Grand Prix of Vietnam. However, there are still questions about possible alternatives, should certain races not be able to take place due to the coronavirus.

This season there has been a lot of improvisation to fill the calendar, as some Grands Prix could not take place because of the pandemic. As a result, almost all races are taking place in Europe this year, with the exception of the last three.

No plan B for 2021

But what if the same situation reoccurs next year? For the time being, the calendar for 2021 does not seem to take into account that some races may not be able to continue. There is no emergency plan like there was this year for next year, auto-motor-und-sport.de reports.

So there is no plan B. The reason behind this is that many of the participating teams simply cannot afford a repeat of 2020. In addition, both the organizers and the teams think that the Grands Prix, and the trips to it, can now take place in a safe way.
