After driving for Haas for the last five years, Romain Grosjean will leave the team as they look to an all new lineup. Grosjean has revealed that George Russell was the only driver to send him a message wishing him well after the news was confirmed.

Grosjean has a good relationship with the young Brit and offered him some words of support after his mistake at Imola

Grosjean reveals message from Russell

"I have a good relationship with George," Grosjean told RaceFans.net.

"When it was announced that I wouldn't be driving for Haas next season, he was the first and only one to send me a message. He's a really good guy."

He remembers a similar mistake he made at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in 2018 when he also crashed behind the safety car. "I know how painful that is, especially when you're on course for your first points of the season. It was the same for me in Baku."

"In the back of the field, you're doing a lot of keeping your tires warm. As I've said before, the same thing would probably have happened to me if I could do Baku over again.

"George didn't do anything crazy, he just lost control of the car. That was a tough day for him, but he still has a lot of good days ahead of him," Grosjean concluded.
