Kvyat feeling a lot more comfortable in the Alpha Tauri than earlier in the season

Daniil Kvyat's P4 at Imola could not have come at a better time. There is only one place left at AlphaTauri, and there is no shortage of options for that seat, with Kvyat, Alex Albon and Yuki Tsunoda all vying for it.

Kvyat admitted he struggled for form at the start of the season but some changes have been made and he's feeling much more comfortable in the car.

"When I started the season, I didn't feel comfortable with the car and I didn't feel good with the steering. Then we made a few changes to the steering in an effort to improve my feeling at the front," said Kvyat to the Italian branch of Motorsport.com.

"This meant I had to give up some things and rediscover some things about the car. But from that moment on it went much better. The feeling with the car has improved, I felt more comfortable."

For most of the season, Kvyat has been overshadowed by Pierre Gasly, who has impressed this season even scoring a win at Monza. Kvyat is pleased to finally be closer to Gasly in terms of performance.

"From a certain point on I felt more competitive and my performance was closer to Pierre. He seemed at ease from the start of the season, while I was not. Of course he did a fantastic job. He immediately felt good in the car, while I had to wait for the guys from the team to find a way to help me. I want to thank them for that."
