Lewis Hamilton's victory at Imola helped Mercedes to record their seventh straight Constructors' Championship. Hamilton had some words of praise for the man at the top, Toto Wolff.

After the retirement of Verstappen, Valtteri Bottas was able to regain second place, allowing Mercedes to finish 1-2 again and win the Constructors' Championship for the seventh time in a row.

Out of the spotlight

However, despite winning the championship, Wolff refused to go up to the podium. "He doesn't want to be at the front of every picture. He doesn't want to claim anything, he puts the team first," said Lewis Hamilton to Formula1.com.

"He is without a doubt the best leader there is in Formula 1. No matter what people say, no one has done as well as he has. He is the best boss you can wish for."

Hamilton continued: "It's his mentality, and the balance of willpower, compassion, comprehension, and ego. No one on the team is less than him, and he really cares how everyone is doing. He asks people how things are going at home and whether the team can do something that makes them perform better at work."

"He's a great man and it's a privilege to have him as our leader. We wouldn't have been able to do this without him."

Hamilton had expected Wolff to accompany him on the Imola podium, but instead, it was engineer Leo Stevens who was allowed to go.

"I thought he was going to take the podium, so I was surprised. I would have liked him to come, but on the other hand, he's showing his leadership again."
