Alexander Albon had to settle for sixth place in qualifying for the Grand Prix of Emilia Romagna. He qualified behind teammate Max Verstappen, and Pierre Gasly was also faster in the AlphaTauri car.

Improvement for Albon

"It's never enough. Of course, I want more from the session itself. I want to be closer, it's not a terrible result there's no point getting negative about it. I feel like it was a step in the right direction, things are getting better. We're not a million miles away," Albon said in an online press event from Red Bull Racing.

"It's chipping away at it really. That's what it is. it's improvement which is the goal. If you look at my lap, I'm pretty happy with it. There's not much left [out there], the British-Thai continued.

Gasly signs up

Albon remains under pressure at Red Bull. In any case, he should no longer expect any competition from Pierre Gasly, because he has extended his contract with AlphaTauri. "I didn't even read it. I only heard about it when I arrived at the circuit. As I said I'm not too focused on everything going around, I'm more just focused on myself,” said Albon.

"I read it and then I was driving in free practice. I mean I can think about it now, and I can read into it but there's nothing more to say about it. Again, on my side, I want to be in the Red Bull and fight," the 24-year-old British-Thai concluded.
