Esteban Ocon is looking forward to the upcoming race at Imola. The Frenchman has fond memories of this circuit because it is where he won the 2014 F3 title.

The most recent race at Portimao was a success for Ocon. The 24-year-old Renault driver started the race just outside the top ten, but managed to climb up to eighth position during the race, ahead of his team mate Daniel Ricciardo. It was striking how well Ocon handled his tyres during the race: he drove no less than fifty laps on the medium tyre.

Good memories

Ocon reflected on his 2014 success in the Formula 3 series and gave an insight into what we can expect from the track this weekend. In an article on the Renault website Ocon said: "I have good memories of the weekend of 2014 with Formula 3 there, when I took the championship with one more lap to go. I think Imola is one of my favourite circuits and I can't wait to drive a Formula 1 car there. That will be extra special."

"It has some interesting combinations of corners, especially Acque Minerale. That's a little bit downhill, pretty fast and then goes up again. There's a lot of difference in the corners on this track and that's what makes it so characteristic. It also has some kerbs and chicanes that we don't see all year round. That's really nice for the drivers."
