The organisers of the Australian Grand Prix have confirmed that the 2021 season will open in Melbourne, and that they intend to allow fans to enter the event.

Disappointing start to 2020 season

What should have been the start of the 2020 season turned out to be a big disappointment. Despite the global advance of the coronavirus in March, the season opener in Australia was scheduled to continue as planned. However, when the fans gathered for the first free practice session, they were sent away at the last minute and cancelled the weekend.

Now the plan is again to open the 2021 season in Australia. The organizers want to seize this opportunity to make up for lost fans by allowing spectators into the event, according to MotorsportWeek.com.

Spectators at GP Australia 2021

"The organization of large events has changed a lot. We are working with health authorities and the Victoria Government to allow fans to enter Albert Park in a sensible, flexible, and above all COVID-safe way," said the Australian Grand Prix Corporation.

If all goes according to plan, the Australian Grand Prix will most likely take place on March 21st.
