The Portuguese Grand Prix was an entertaining one, with several overtakes throughout the race. Most of them were done on the straight and according to Daniel Ricciardo circuit designers should try to learn something from this.

In recent years more and more races have been added where one detail cannot be missing: a long straight followed by a slow turn. A heavy braking point for the drivers, which means that overtaking with DRS has a great chance of success. Ricciardo saw a more natural solution to this overtaking problem this weekend.

Advantage for Zandvoort

''One of the trends, in my opinion, is a fast last turn. That gives you the chance to dive into a slipstream quickly. I think it helps to get this done faster and in that way you encourage overtaking," says Ricciardo according to Motorsport.com

Ricciardo says that Barcelona is a circuit where this is not possible, but with the old layout he sees a solution in Spain. ''I would love to go back to the old circuit with the old last sector. I think there would be a lot more overtaking then, so hopefully we can do that again," concludes the Renault driver.
