Hamilton: 'If that's the case, then it's really going to be an ice rink'

Rain can make for spectacular races in Formula 1, but this year the drivers haven't raced in the rain. This may change during tomorrow's Portuguese Grand Prix.

Although rain is often predicted for the Formula 1 races, it hasn't happened at all this year. It often comes out of the sky right after the Grand Prix. However, it may finally come tomorrow, with showers predicted.

According to Lewis Hamilton, one of the best drivers in the rain, it could be a tough day. "It was going to rain tomorrow. That means it's going to be the hardest day for all of us if that happens. Windy and wet, it's really going to be like an ice rink when we have those conditions. I think we need to prepare for all the scenarios," said the Brit at the FIA press conference.

The threat from behind

But even if it's going to be a dry Grand Prix, the six-time world champion doesn't expect an easy race tomorrow. "I think it's going to be very difficult, especially as we have the harder tire. It won't work well for several laps. It is going to be interesting at the start. Of course, we will lose some speed compared to Max and the guys behind us on softs," continued Hamilton.

"If it's dry, the restarts will be difficult with these tires and the speed that the Safety Car drives. I won't say too much about that. But it's going to be a tough race because we've never been here," concluded the driver of Mercedes.
