Albon after Horner's statements about Red Bull pool: "It's not my problem"

Alexander Albon discussed his future at Red Bull Racing in detail after qualifying for the Portuguese Grand Prix. The 24-year-old driver indicates that he only focuses on his own performance and that he is not concerned about all the rumours that appear in the press.

"I know I've got to get the job done. There's no secret in this sport. But otherwise, the way I approach it is the same as I would in a normal weekend. I feel the qualifying [sessions] have been improving. Yeah, of course there is still a gap but I feel like things are coming together a bit more. And I just need, you know, good weekends, clean weekends. I think that's important," Albon said in a Red Bull press event

Focus on your own performance

The British-Thai gets a lot of questions about how he thinks about his performance relates to his future as a Red Bull driver. "As a driver, you approach each weekend the same. There's no real difference to it and for me I've just got to do my job. Focus on my performance, there's not too much to comment about it," the teammate of Verstappen responds. 

When Albon is confronted with the statements of Horner that Red Bull will look outside (with drivers like Nico Hulkenberg or Sergio Perez) if Albon does not perform as expected, he doesn't care. "That's not my job. It's not my problem. My job is to stay in that pool."

Albon cannot be fooled

In their own words, the statements by Horner and Helmut Marko do not create additional pressure. "I am confident in my own abilities," he says. The fact that the names of Hulkenberg and Perez are falling more and more does little to him. "Their names don't really mean anything to me. I'm just focused on my job and working with the team to get the best results I can."
