"Magnussen's career is becoming a victim of the COVID crisis"

According to Danish media, it is 99% certain that Kevin Magnussen will no longer be driving in Formula 1 next year. The Dane's contract expires at the end of this year and his team Haas has been looking for new drivers for some time.

The achievements of Magnussen and his teammate Romain Grosjean in recent years have not been good enough to write home about. Haas' Danish driver is also known to have dangerous antics on the track, even at the expense of his own or Grosjean's race. Until now, KMag only managed to score one point in the championship.

Victim of the corona crisis

But it now looks as if his Formula 1 career will (for the time being) come to an end. Haas team boss Guenther Steiner doesn't hide his criticism of his drivers and openly talks about how his team will talk to other candidates for a seat from 2021 onwards. Danish journalist Peter Nygaard spoke with his compatriot after the Eifel GP.

"I am 99% sure that Magnussen's career will end at the last race of this season in Abu Dhabi," Nygaard writes in the Danish newspaper BT, as quoted by PlanetF1. "His career will therefore be a victim of the corona crisis because without the financial problems caused by the pandemic, teams such as Haas and Williams could have looked more at the talents of a driver and not at the money they bring with them. Can't and won't pay to be shown at one of the smaller teams in order to have a chance to move on to a top team. That's why he will leave the sport."
