Lance Stroll was due to participate in the Eifel Grand Prix at the Nurburgring, but on the Saturday before the third free practice session, the Canadian was not feeling well. That's why Nico Hulkenberg was brought to the German circuit to drive the Grand Prix for Racing Point. More than a week after the race, Stroll now announces that he had tested positive for COVID on his return trip.

"I would like to let everyone know that I have recently been poistively tested for COVID-19 after the Eifel Grand Prix. I feel completely fit and have been tested negative again," the Canadian explains in a statement.

"To make everything clear, I tested negative on the Nurburgring when I got there and that was just a normal pre-race test. On Saturday morning I started to feel uncomfortable."

Fit for Portugal

"I then followed FIA protocols and went into self-isolation in my motorhome. I did not go into the paddock after That either. I was not fit enough to drive so I flew home on Sunday morning. That evening I took another COVID test.According to Stroll that was the moment he was positively tested.

"So the next day it came back that the test was positive, so after that, I went into self-isolation for ten days and fortunately my symptoms were not serious.

Stroll says he can be in Portimao this week. "I was tested again on Monday and that was negative. I feel good and I can't wait to be back with the team and race in Portugal," says Stroll.
