After almost six seasons of Formula 1, Max Verstappen is one of the sport's biggest stars. On his debut in 2015 he made a big impression and made history as the youngest driver ever to win his first race for Red Bull Racing. According to his team boss Christian Horner, we can expect a lot more from the Dutchman.

Just the beginning

Despite another strong showing from Verstappen, the Dutchman, with six races to go, is once again not able to compete for the Drivers' Championship. However, he is the only driver who has close to Mercedes. Every race that Verstappen finished this season, he was on the podium.

However, according to Horner, this is only the beginning. "He's only just literally turned 23 years of age, but he's got a significant amount of races behind him now and he's just growing and growing. You can see that maturity in the car, in his racing and I think there's exciting times ahead of him," Horner told Formula 1.

Ending on a high

The British team boss also admitted that he believes, slowly but surely Red Bull are getting closer to Mercedes, as the car's performance at the Eifel Grand Prix also shows. "Having understood quite a few of the issues that we've had with RB16, so that that's addressed going into RB16B."

There are still six races on the agenda for this season, three of which are on circuits unknown to Formula 1. "We've got Portimao, we've got Istanbul, we've got Imola - they're all circuits that will be quite interesting for us and we're keen to finish the season with positive momentum.”
